Roger Williams Statement on Federal Judge Immigration Ruling

February 17, 2015

AUSTIN, TEXAS – Congressman Roger Williams (Texas-25) today issued the following statement after a U.S. district court judge in Texas ruled against President Barack Obama's recent executive action on immigration:

"The Obama Administration's plan to grant amnesty now, secure our borders later is dangerous, overreaching and a blatant disregard of law," said Williams. "The president's immigration policy is a slap in the face to those who came to this country legally, and it provides an incentive for continued illegal border crossings by those who want to cheat the system. I applaud the court's ruling, and I hope it helps the president and his administration understand that their executive actions from Washington will not be welcomed with open arms here in Texas."

Judge Andrew Hanen of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas issued the ruling Monday evening after the president, last November, announced that as many as five million undocumented workers would be offered protection from deportation.
