Congressman Williams’ statement on Fort Hood verdict
Today, U.S. Congressman Roger Williams released the following statement after a jury found former Maj. Nidal Hasan guilty on 45 counts of murder and attempted murder.
“While this is the beginning of justice being served, the victims and families affected by his terrorist attack are still waiting for this Administration to fix the injustice of labeling the shooting workplace violence. Hasan admitted to shooting his fellow soldiers, saying he switched sides in what he called a U.S. war on Islam. Leading up to the trial, he told potential jurors that he supports the Taliban and Shariah law.
“Convicting this terrorist is only the first step in restoring what was taken from the United States by his evil attack. I will continue working with my colleagues in Congress to fight on behalf of the many victims who deserve the benefits, treatment and honor they have been denied by this Administration. Their four years of suffering must be addressed now.”
