Congressman Williams Votes for Veterans

March 17, 2017

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Roger Williams (R – Austin), who represents Fort Hood in the House of Representatives, this week voted for three measures that will protect the Second Amendment rights of veterans and improve the Department of Veterans' Affairs (VA) accountability and effectiveness.

"For far too long the Department of Veterans Affairs has proven itself to be an absolute disaster to the brave men and women who sacrificed for our nation," said Williams. "Veterans have died waiting for care and the department has lied and wasted millions of taxpayer dollars. We must ensure the rights of our veterans are protected and that they receive absolutely nothing less than the care we would expect for ourselves, our families and our loved ones."

Williams voted in support of the following bills Thursday and Friday:

H.R. 1181 – Veterans Second Amendment Protection Act
H.R. 1259 – VA Accountability First Act of 2017
H.R. 1367 – To improve the authority of the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to hire and retain physicians and other employees of the Department of Veterans Affairs
