Rep. Williams Statement on Effort to Impeach IRS Commissioner John Koskinen

December 7, 2016

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Roger Williams (R-Austin) this morning issued the following statement in response to the House voting to consider articles of impeachment against IRS Commissioner John Koskinen:

"I am happy to have voted in favor of holding accountable an agency that has for too long followed a political agenda instead of working for the betterment of US taxpayers. The IRS improperly and wrongfully targeted conservative groups that were applying for tax-exempt status, which in my opinion is unacceptable."

"IRS Commissioner Koskinen has deliberately misled Congress, refused to comply with House subpoenas, and violated the trust of the American people. Commissioner Koskinen should be impeached and removed from office."
