Rep. Williams Statement on Supreme Court Power Plant Ruling

February 10, 2016

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Roger Williams (R-Texas) today released the following statement after the Supreme Court Tuesday night, in a 5-4 vote, put a hold on the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) rule on carbon emissions from power plants:

“I applaud the Supreme Court’s decision to block a costly rule that would ultimately raise energy prices for American families. While President Obama naively believes ‘China is now looking at getting serious about its emissions,’ he also incorrectly thinks that his administration, alone, can make the laws and force unreliable technologies into a free market. I believe we must ensure clean air for future generations, and we must achieve that objective in the Congress because elected officials, unlike appointed bureaucrats at the EPA, are held accountable for their actions.”
