Roger Williams Receives Pro Business Award from U.S. Chamber of Commerce

April 29, 2015

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Roger Williams (R-Texas), a small business owner and member of the House Financial Services Committee, today received the Spirit of Enterprise Award from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in recognition of pro-business votes.

"As a small business owner for more than 40 years, I have experienced firsthand the effects of the good, the bad and the ugly that comes out of Washington and the effect it has on Main Street businesses," said Williams. "Washington should be doing everything it can to promote pro-growth policies, but instead it is putting job creators in a chokehold and discouraging investment. There is little incentive today for entrepreneurs to take any risk."

Two weeks ago Williams voted to repeal the death tax and was featured on Fox Business Network to tell the story of how the death tax nearly caused him, a second generation business owner, to shut down his family's auto dealership.

The Chamber scored Congress on eight Senate and 14 House votes in 2014, including terrorism risk insurance, tax extenders and the CROmnibus. It also scored votes to ensure free speech, fund transportation and infrastructure and further ensure energy independence.
