Roger Williams Statement on Anniversary of Fort Hood Attack

November 5, 2015

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Roger Williams (R-Texas) today released the following statement on the anniversary of the November 5, 2009 terrorist attack at Fort Hood:

"Six years ago, the Great Place witnessed an unspeakable tragedy. I can say firsthand, the Fort Hood community is as resilient, yet compassionate, as they come – they look out for their own. While neither recognition nor compensation will ever come close to alleviating the pain and suffering caused by a cowardly act of violence, it was, and still is, my hope that the Purple Heart, that was so rightfully deserved, will help the long and arduous process of closure and peace. Together, every year, we will mourn this day, and together, we will always honor and cherish the memories of those brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice. To all the victims and their loved ones, I am praying for you, I am rooting for you and I will never forget you. In Congress, I will continue do everything in my power to protect our troops just as they protect us each and every day."

Texas' 25th congressional district, represented by Williams, includes most of Fort Hood and the surrounding communities of Copperas Cove and Killeen.
