Roger Williams Statement on Keystone Pipeline

November 6, 2015

“Instead of prioritizing job creation and energy independence for the good of the nation, President Obama is pandering to a small group of far left wing environmentalists who ironically oppose the safest and most secure means of transporting oil.”

AUSTIN, TEXAS – Congressman Roger Williams (R-Texas) today released the following statement after President Obama rejected a presidential permit for the Keystone XL pipeline citing climate change:

"The reality is that, today, oil is the cheapest and most effective form of energy, and it will be purchased and used whether or not the White House wants to take a fabricated moral high ground," said Williams. "Instead of prioritizing job creation and energy independence for the good of the nation, President Obama is pandering to a small group of far left wing environmentalists who ironically oppose the safest and most secure means of transporting oil. For seven years and study after study, this administration – including former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton – has failed to offer any definitive evidence to support their opposition to the construction of the Keystone pipeline. Obama, Clinton and now (Secretary of State) Kerry have duped the American people while the international community just sits back and laughs."
