Last night, the Republican Congressional Baseball Team defeated the Democrats 8-7 in the annual Congressional Baseball Game for Charity at Nationals Park in Washington, DC. Although the Republicans maintained a lead for most of the game, the Democrats pulled ahead in the sixth inning.

The GOP scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh, ending their seven year losing streak.

U.S. Representative Roger Williams (R – Austin) said, “These guys came here to play. They’ve worked hard, and they earned this win. I am incredibly proud of what we accomplished.”

Since April, the Republican Congressional Baseball Team has held 6:00am practices in Northern Virginia before the House of Representatives and U.S. Senate gaveled in to session.
