Come and Read It Report
Texas' southern border is being targeted by potentially dangerous illegal immigrants who believe they are above the rule of law. Last week, in an effort to combat these threats, President Trump ordered additional forces to deploy to the border to assist the Department of Homeland Security with their southern border security mission.
I have fought for stronger borders since day one. It is past time that Congress do its job and secure this country by utilizing technology, more border patrol agents, and physical barriers, such as constructing a wall where needed. I am glad we have a President who understands the importance of securing our borders and doing whatever it takes to protect American families.
Violence is Never the Answer
Last week, our country experienced two unthinkable acts of terror. Regardless of political party, religion, or any beliefs, violence is never the answer. The prominent Democrats who were targeted by a madman with 13 improvised explosive devices (IED) experienced an act of pure hatred and terror. As a victim of a politically-motivated attack, I condemn these heinous acts, and I am relieved the suspect was arrested and that no one was harmed.
I offer my deepest condolences to the families of those lost at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh. This nation is made up of Americans with different religions, beliefs and ideals, and those who differ from you should never feel unwelcome or fearful for their lives. We must stand united with the Jewish people all across America and in our own communities. Our country is committed to standing with Israel, our strongest ally, and I hope the Jewish community knows that America is with them.
I've said it before, this violence must end. I encourage everyone in our district will join me in continuing to pray for the victims and their families, as well as thanking the brave law enforcement officers at the local, state, and federal level for working around the clock to protect us.
Last week, I visited the folks at La Moderna in Cleburne, Texas. I was happy to talk with their workers about policies that impact them and hear their concerns. Read more on the visit here.
