As we head into the final legislative week of the year, not only will we be voting on the USMCA and government funding, we'll be taking up the Democrats' baseless articles of impeachment against President Trump. Impeaching a president is one of the most monumental votes that Congress can make, and the fact that Democrats are proceeding with these articles, despite having no evidence of 'high crimes or misdemeanors' by President Trump, is an affront to our democracy. I will be voting no when they are brought to the House floor.

We delivered for our military

After calling on my colleagues to come to the table and deliver for our military, we passed a bipartisan NDAA that provides for the Department of Defense and gives our men and women in uniform a well-deserved pay raise. I'm grateful that we continued our bipartisan tradition of putting politics aside to show that we support our military. We must continue to focus on providing full funding that equips our warfighters to remain the most modern, ready and lethal organization in the world.

If you got it, they want it

America will never be a socialist country because socialism is not compatible with freedom; if you got it, socialists want it. Capitalism is about taking responsibility for what you create and making it even greater. We are a nation of opportunity and incentive, and because of those principles, we are a nation of hope where everyone can benefit.

Opposing big government in drug pricing

It was disappointing earlier this week that Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats once again chose political ploys over the American people. H.R. 3, the Lower Drug Costs Now Act, is not about negotiation or lowering costs as Democrats claim. It casts aside all bipartisan efforts to lower drug prices in favor of a big government solution that encourages fewer cures at greater cost.

Thankfully, Republicans have an alternative: The Lower Costs, More Cures Act (H.R. 19). I am proud to cosponsor this legislation that uses bipartisan reforms to lower out-of-pocket costs and protect access to medicines and new cures for Americans. Rather than playing political games, we must champion real solutions that promote competition, and strengthen transparency and accountability in drug pricing. Click here to learn more.

It is an honor and a privilege to serve you.
