A Vote for NDAA is a Vote for Fort Hood

July 14, 2017

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Roger Williams (R – Austin), who represents Fort Hood, one of the largest United States military installations in the world, released the following statement Friday after the passage of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2018 (FY18).

"For more than half a century, the NDAA has authorized the funding of the necessary equipment, supplies, and training to keep Americans safe. As the representative of the 25th District of Texas, that includes Fort Hood Army Base, I am proud to have worked alongside my friends from both sides of the aisle to pass this much needed bill. The NDAA will directly impact active military personnel in Central Texas by giving our military families a pay increase of 2.4 percent. It will supply additional equipment for brigades, grow funds for long overdue facility improvements, and get more boots on the ground by boosting defense spending by 10 percent; a $28.5 billion increase from President Donald Trump's proposed budget. Ultimately, we made a promise last year to keep Americans safe by rebuilding our military, and that is exactly what we accomplished this week."
