Rep. Williams Introduces Baseball Great, Brooks Robinson to Colleagues

March 16, 2016

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Roger Williams (R – Texas), chair of the Congressional Baseball Caucus, welcomed former Baltimore Oriole and Hall of Fame third baseman Brooks Robinson to Capitol Hill yesterday evening.

“Last night, my colleagues and I were honored to visit with Hall of Famer Brooks Robinson – one of the most talented third basemen to ever play the game,” said Williams. “Brooks’ hospitality, charm and incredible baseball knowledge brought us all together for laughter and praise.”

Williams, who played in the Atlanta Braves farm system, helped form the Congressional Baseball Caucus in 2013 as a way for Members of Congress to hear from professional athletes and other individuals involved in the sport.

“I can’t think of a better way to set aside our political differences than to get together once in a while and hear from baseball legends, discuss important issues about the game and enjoy each other’s company,” Williams has said of the caucus.
