Williams’ statement on the House debt ceiling vote

January 23, 2013

Today, U.S. Congressman Roger Williams (R-TX) released the following statement after voting against a House-passed bill to suspend the debt ceiling through May 19th.

"Ever since this President took office, our nation’s debt has skyrocketed. In fact, his reckless spending spree has necessitated a $5 trillion increase in the debt limit in the last four years. This has got to stop. The government should approach its fiscal problems the same way as American families and small businesses – by making the tough choices now and reducing expenses. Let’s address the real problem harming our economy: spending.”
