Congressman Williams Brings Jumpstart America to Tax Committee

April 14, 2016

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Roger Williams (R – Austin) Wednesday afternoon testified before the House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Tax Policy on his seven bill tax reform plan, Jumpstart America.

“Mr. Chairman, last Congress, when the conversation on tax reform began to take shape…I traveled around the country and talked to fellow small business owners. I talked to folks in the manufacturing sector, people in distribution, my friends in the oil and gas industry and the average American entrepreneur just starting out.

“Small business owners, in particular, found it frustrating to devote so much of their time to taxes, when they could instead focus on their company.

“As we’ve seen over the last few years, companies are literally moving their headquarters to avoid our rates. Lowering that tax rate would incentivize those to move their business back to the U.S. and help us regain our competitive edge in a global economy.”
