Rep. Williams: AG Decision ‘Failure of our Justice System’

July 7, 2016

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Roger Williams (R – Austin) today spoke on the floor of the House of Representatives regarding U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch’s announcement that the Department of Justice will not prosecute former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for using a personal email server to send and receive classified information while she served in the State Department.

“In an era when cybersecurity has become one of the most important pillars of U.S. national security, this carelessness is unacceptable,” said Williams. “What is even more unacceptable is that the nation’s top prosecutor met with Secretary Clinton’s husband, former President Bill Clinton, in private, one week before the Justice Department decided not to press charges.”

In a press conference earlier this week, FBI Director James Comey acknowledged 110 e-mails sent and received were classified.

“The attorney general’s decision not to prosecute Secretary Clinton is a failure of our justice system,” said Williams.
