Come and Read It Report

Dear Texans,

As all of you in our district know, I have been fighting for a commonsense, business owners perspective on tax reform since day one. Less than a year ago, we passed the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act - truly historic tax relief for all. Since then, there are more jobs, Americans are seeing higher wages, and Main Street can breathe again.

While all of this is great, there has always been the uncertainty of knowing that these cuts would expire in 2025 - something I've been fighting to change. I am happy to report that after working hard with House Leadership and the President, the House passed three pieces of legislation that make up Tax Reform 2.0 last week:

H.R. 6757, the Family Savings act of 2018 ⟶ helping families and individuals save for their future

H.R. 6756, the American Innovation Act of 2018 ⟶ spurring American innovation by helping Main Street

H.R. 6760, the Protecting Family and Small Business Tax Cuts Act of 2018 ⟶ makes tax cuts permanent for American individuals, families, and small businesses

These pieces of legislation will continue to bolster our economy, and I am excited to watch American families and businesses flourish.

Hays County Veterans

Last week, veterans from Hays County in our district boarded an honor flight to Washington, D.C. For those who don't know, the purpose of an honor flight is to transport America's veterans to the nation's capital to visit the memorials dedicated to honor their service and sacrifices. On that particular flight, we had six WWII veterans, 18 Korean War veterans and 17 Vietnam War veterans - the flight was named in honor of Williams 'Bill' Kolbe, who was a WWII vet that served in the Army Air Corps.

I was honored to be able to speak about them on the House floor in front of my colleagues and the nation. These vets are true heroes and I would like to thank them for so selflessly serving this nation and protecting this country all those years ago. I hope they enjoyed every moment of their honor flight trip, and know that we are all forever grateful for their service. Click here or below to watch.

Guardian of Small Business

One of my missions in Congress is to support our small business owners and workers. In the past two years, I have voted to reform burdensome regulations, overhaul the nation's outdated tax code, and assist with legislation that eased financial pressure on American families and businesses. I am grateful to have been recognized as a 'Guardian of Small Business' by the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) for earning a 100% voting record in the 115th Congress. It is an honor and privilege to represent the people of Texas’ 25th Congressional District and as always, please reach out to me with any issues and concerns that are important to you.

In God we trust,

Roger Williams

Member of Congress
