Roger Williams: Planned Parenthood ‘rips off federal government’

September 18, 2015

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Roger Williams (R-Texas) spoke on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives to urge his colleagues to oppose federal funding for Planned Parenthood in light of the recent allegations that Planned Parenthood alters abortion procedures to harvest fetal organs which are then sold.

"Why does Congress insist on giving half a billion taxpayer dollars to an organization that has such disregard for human life?" asked Williams. "Some of my colleagues would prefer to continue to send taxpayer dollars to Planned Parenthood: an organization that takes in money from aborted fetal parts and alters abortion procedures so organs can be harvested – an organization that, frankly, rips off the federal government."

"I am disgusted that an organization that is involved in such repulsive activity would promote itself as a protector of women's health. It's beyond hypocritical. It's deceitful and, I believe, fraudulent."

In August, while visiting with the staff of the Austin Pregnancy Resource Center, Williams called for the defunding of Planned Parenthood. Last week, Williams signed a pledge promising he would oppose any government funding bill that also funds Planned Parenthood.
