Congressman Roger Williams will be honored at Bobby Bragan gala

U.S. Representative Roger Williams, a former TCU baseball player, will be honored at the 25th anniversary of the Bobby Bragan Lifetime Achievement Award Gala on Nov. 2 at the Fort Worth Club.

Williams has been the U. S. Representative for Texas’s 25th Congressional District since 2013. Previously, he served under Governor Rick Perry as Secretary of State of Texas from November 2004 to July 2007.

Williams played baseball at TCU from 1968 to 1971 and was an All-Southwest Conference selection as an outfielder his freshman year. He was named to TCU’s 1960s All-Decade Team.

He was selected in the 25th round of the 1971 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft by the Atlanta Braves and played three years in the minor leagues.

He returned to Fort Worth and became head coach at TCU for one season in 1976 and then began a distinguished career in business and public affairs.

The playing surface at TCU’s Lupton Stadium is named Williams-Reilly Field in honor of Williams and business leader Michael Reilly.

The event begins at 6 p.m. Dinner will begin at approximately 7:15 p.m. Tickets are $250 each. Tables for 10 begin at $2,000.
