Healthcare
For too long, our healthcare system has focused on treating chronic illness instead of preventing it. That’s why we support the MAHA Commission as it works to uncover the root causes of chronic disease and address them directly. We are committed to protecting and strengthening Medicare and Medicaid by cutting waste, fraud, and abuse so these programs serve those who truly need them—our seniors and the most vulnerable—not able-bodied adults or illegal immigrants. By embracing innovative solutions, we can expand transparency, improve access, and drive down costs for all Americans. We stand with President Trump and Secretary Kennedy in their mission to Make America Healthy Again.
I will always fight to ensure these vital health care providers have the resources needed to continue serving Texans. Some of my work includes:
- Voted for the Working Families Tax Cuts Act (H.R. 1), which created the Rural Health Transformation Program, a program that invests in rural health care infrastructure to expand access and enhance quality of care in rural areas.
- Cosponsored H.R. 1262, the Give Kids a Chance Act, which accelerates novel treatments for childhood cancer and other rare diseases by giving authority to the FDA to require pediatric trials for combination cancer therapies.
- Cosponsored H.R. 539, the Chiropractic Medicare Coverage Modernization Act of 2025, which modernizes recognition for chiropractors as a “physician” and expands Medicare coverage of chiropractic services to allow all services provided by chiropractors.
- Cosponsored H.R.1613, Drug Price Transparency in Medicaid Act of 2023, which ends spread pricing in Medicaid programs, leading to low reimbursement rates for pharmacies, and lower health care costs artificially raised by PBMs.
- Co-led the Personalized Care Act of 2023 (H.R.4803), which offers millions of Americans improved and expanded access to Health Savings Accounts to make Americans' health care more personal and more accessible.
- Cosponsored H.R.3887, Children’s Hospital GME Support Reauthorization Act of 2023, which provides funds to train pediatric medical residents at 59 hospitals nationwide with protections to prevent funds from going to hospitals that provide transgender treatments or procedures to minors.
- Urged the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to allocate relief funding towards rural health care facilities, which led to a $634 million CARES Act grant awarded to Texas facilities.
