Congressman Williams visits Killeen college

January 23, 2018

KILLEEN, TX - Congressman Roger Williams has big plans for his district 25 in the upcoming months.
Tuesday he spoke at the Central Texas College in Killeen about several things -- including the recent government shutdown and DACA.

However, the congressman mostly talked about issues concerning veterans.

Army veteran Tony Smith wanted Congressman Williams to know he thinks this country doesn't take care of those who have risked their lives for it.

"Sometimes we have a very difficult life just to live off of whatever we have and it is not funny how we have to make our ends meet."

Williams says he is working on these issues -- but things like the government shutdown get in the way.

"It should never happen, the problem with the shutdown is the way they do business, we do business in Washington like no other business or family does their business."

The fight over DACA -- or Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals -- stood at the center of the shutdown.

Williams says he has a solution for the dreamers who were brought to America as children without documentation.

"They can apply for a three year work visa to be renewed every three years. If they want to become a citizen then we already have that in place, get in line."

He also agrees with President Trump's stance against sanctuary cities.
"Again breaking the law, no rewarding the illegal behavior."
The veteran says he also wants the congressman to work on closing the loopholes hindering V.A. benefits.
