Dear Texans,

One of my favorite parts about being your representative is getting to travel around our district and meet many of you. I had the opportunity to visit some of our great towns and hear your concerns about important issues such as the shutdown, tax reform, our military, and immigration. Here are some highlights I'd like to share with y'all:

I had the opportunity to meet with our veterans and the Central Texas military community to talk about the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, the recent government shutdown, and what they can expect moving forward in terms of strengthening our military.

The staff at Teleperformance Killeen took me on a tour of their facility where we discussed how the recent tax bill is directly impacting their business.

The folks at Patriot Erectors were more than welcoming and we all enjoyed discussing how tax reform is already working for them. Additionally, we talked about how important it is that we find a solution to fix border security, as well as the need to address the DACA situation. It was an honor to meet with all of them and hear their stories. I am continuing to fight in Washington to secure our nation's borders and find a permanent solution to fix our broken immigration system.

It was an honor to be at the Burnet Rotary Club to discuss tax reform with all of you and answer your questions.

Last week, I also joined local Austin stations, Spectrum News' Capital Tonight, Fox 7 Austin's Good Day Austin and Fox 44 KWKT Killeen. If you missed them, you can watch them by clicking here, here and here.

State of the Union Address

Tomorrow, President Trump will deliver his first State of the Union Address since becoming the 45th President of the United States. I am looking forward to hearing his speech, and am confident the President will come to us with a full legislative agenda for this year that will benefit all Americans. You can livestream his speech on my Facebook page.

Legislative Update

I've recently cosponsored H.R. 820, the Childhood Cancer STAR Act. This bill will improve efforts to identify and track childhood cancer incidences, improve the quality of life for children who are cancer survivors, and identify opportunities to expand research. 15,700 children are diagnosed with cancer each year in the U.S., and I am proud to support this legislation.

This week: The Committee on Financial Services will hold a hearing on the Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit tomorrow at 9am CT that I will be participating in. You can watch it here. Additionally, our committee has five bills up for a vote on the House floor: H.R. 1457, H.R. 1426, H.R. 2255, H.R. 4294, and H.R. 4792.

It is an honor and privilege to represent the people of Texas' 25th Congressional District and as always, please reach out to me with any issues and concerns that are important to you.

In God we Trust,
