COVID-19: Help is on the way
While we are facing a unique time of uncertainty, we are also a nation uniquely gifted to rise up when tested. I have full faith that we will make it through to the other side; we have risen from seemingly impossible circumstances before and we will do it once again.
I've had the opportunity to speak with tens of thousands of you over the last few weeks during live Telephone Town Halls addressing some of your concerns and questions. I'm proud of the way our community has supported each other during this unprecedented time and I know we will get through it together.

Help is on the way
Over the last month, Congress has been hard at work passing crucial legislation so our communities can stay healthy and weather this storm. The American people have always stepped up to the plate in times of need, and this time is no exception. Our job is to provide the reinforcements necessary to move forward and I am proud that by passing the CARES Act this week, we delivered.
What's included in the bill?
- Cash payments directly to American families for rent, utility and other necessary payments.
- Increased Small Business Administration (SBA) loans for small business owners.
- Expanded tele-health services for rural areas.
- Strengthened unemployment benefits for those who lost their jobs at no fault of their own.
My top priorities have been providing direct assistance to our Texan families desperately in need of relief and those unexpectedly out of work due to this unprecedented pandemic. I've also been working to provide critical resources for health care providers on the front lines working around the clock to heal and protect our communities, and ensuring our Main Street businesses can begin the road to recovery while maintaining maximal employment. We are in this together and we will emerge stronger than before.
