Let Freedom Ring
Independence Day is rooted in the celebration of our history and the founding principles that formed our young nation. Every year on the Fourth of July, we reflect on the greatest experiment in freedom the world has ever known, and the extraordinary conviction it took to declare ourselves a self-governing people 244 years ago.
Our Founders enshrined in the Declaration of Independence the belief that every man and woman possesses inherent dignity and "are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights." We must never stop fighting for these truths; because of them, we are able to emerge from the darkest days.
Though we face times of crisis, both past and present, we remain the greatest force for hope on earth. It is a hope that has brought men, women and children to our shores searching for a better life; it is a hope that rises with courage to emerge victorious; and it is a hope that still serves as a radiant beacon for the rest of the world. It is up to us to ensure that light never fades, but we must never forget that it also comes at a cost.
Throughout our history, millions have paid the ultimate price to protect the right of every American to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of happiness. It is an honor to represent thousands of soldiers and veterans who have put their neighbors above themselves in the fight for freedom. I salute these patriots, and their families, for selflessly answering the call to serve our country and preserve the guaranteed rights we possess today.
We are still a symbol of hope for the world after two and a half centuries, and it falls on our shoulders to keep writing the unfinished story of American freedom.
May God bless our great nation.
OUR STRONG ECONOMY IS ON ITS WAY BACK
4.8 million new jobs nationwide
June's Jobs Report smashed expectations this week as we added 4.8 million jobs to our economy and unemployment dropped to 11.1%, well below projected levels. While we still have work to do, I'm proud to fight for Texas workers by supporting pro-growth policies that empower job creators and businesses.
USMCA officially entered into effect on July 1
I am very proud to have helped pass this once-in-a-generation historic agreement that revitalizes our trade and puts America first. The USMCA is a victory for Texan farmers, manufacturers and businesses in the 25th District, and it will continue supporting nearly 1 million jobs in our home state that depend on trade with Canada and Mexico. I was a strong proponent of the agreement from day one, and I will remain committed to fighting for policies that strengthen our Texas economy.
