I stand with our brave service members and veterans who have undertaken tremendous tasks to guarantee the safety and security of the American people. The American story is nothing without our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen, who in spite of great odds, have always answered the call to serve.

Texas has a proud tradition of military service, and there's perhaps no greater example than Fort Hood, which I am honored to represent. Since first coming to Congress, it has been my utmost priority to provide our warfighters with the funding, equipment and resources they need to fight and win our nation's wars. I make it my personal mission to not only communicate with our Army leaders, but to go where they are. Whether I am at Fort Hood, the National Training Center (NTC) on Fort Irwin, Kuwait or Iraq, spending time with our warfighters and hearing their personal stories of service and sacrifice help me to better understand their needs and deliver results for them in Washington.

Equally as important as caring for our warriors when they're in uniform, I've made it my mission to care for those who have borne the seen, and often unseen, scars of battle. From increasing options for care in the community and supporting the Veterans Choice and Mission Act, to holding the VA accountable for their shortcomings, I am determined to do whatever is necessary to care for Veterans in Central Texas.
