Congressman Williams Announces 2019 Congressional Art Competition Student Winners
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Roger Williams (TX-25) announced the winners of the 2019 Congressional Art Competition for students in the 25th District of Texas.
Each year the Congressional Institute sponsors a nation-wide high school art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent in the nation and in each congressional district. Since the Artistic Discovery competition began in 1982, more than 650,000 high school students have participated.
This year, Noelia Delgado, a student from Whitney High School in Whitney, TX, won for her artwork titled, Soft Kisses. Noelia's artwork will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol, where it will be seen by thousands of visitors. Noelia will also receive two roundtrip tickets to Washington, D.C. for a ceremony honoring her work, alongside the other winning students from across the country.
"Congratulations to all of the participants in this year's Congressional Art Competition," said Congressman Roger Williams. "It was such a joy to see all of the student artwork and it further shows how talented, creative and promising our students are. I am proud to showcase Noelia's artwork as a representation of Texas for visitors across the nation to see.
Other winners include runner-up Kaitlyn Smith from Whitney High School in Whitney, TX, for her piece titled, The Emergence of Stars, and third place winner Audra Hoefelmeyer from Burnet High School in Burnet, TX, for A Moment in Time.
