October 18, 2018

BEE CAVE, TEXAS – U.S. Congressman Roger Williams (R – Austin) presented the Bee Cave Police Department and the Lake Travis Fire and Rescue with a flag flown over the United States Capitol earlier today. Rep. Williams also provided a copy of the Congressional Record of him honoring the two departments on the House floor last month to recognize their 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb.

"I was humbled to meet the brave men and women who make up the Bee Cave Police Department and the Lake Travis Fire and Rescue earlier today," said Rep. Williams. "It was a true honor to be able to recognize them on the House floor and present them with a United States flag and Congressional Record. I am grateful for their selfless courage, and I hope they know how much we all appreciate the work that they do."

Last month, on the 17th anniversary of the day our country was attacked on September 11, 2001, these two departments put on full gear and climbed 110 flights of stairs to commemorate those who never made it out while climbing up the Twin Towers to rescue Americans. That day, we lost 343 New York Fire Fighters, 37 Port Authority officers, and 23 NYPD officers.

"The fire and police department in Texas' 25th District are made up of a remarkable group of people who put their lives on the line to protect us each day," said. Rep. Williams. "All first responders are vital to the safety of Americans, and we must never forget to thank them for all that they do."
