Congressman Williams Selects Art Competition Winners
AUSTIN, TEXAS – Congressman Roger Williams (R – Austin), whose district stretches from Tarrant County in the north to Hays County in the south and includes much of Austin and the Texas Hill Country, has selected the top three submissions for this year’s Congressional Art Competition.
Each spring, a nation-wide high school art competition is sponsored by the Congressional Institute. The Artistic Discovery Contest is an opportunity to recognize and encourage the artistic talent in the nation and in our congressional district.
This year’s winner is Jazmine Castillo from Burnet, Texas, who is a junior at Burnet High School. Her piece is an original illustration titled, Remembrance.
The runner-up is Caden Schinagel, who is a freshman from Glen Rose High School. Luz Paz, a senior from Burnet High School, came in third place.
First place winner, Castillo, will receive two round-trip airline tickets to visit Washington, D.C. for a winner’s reception on June 27. Her piece will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one full year. Second and third place winning entries will be displayed in Congressman Williams’ district offices.
