Congressman Williams Statement on Government Shutdown

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Congressman Roger Williams (R – Austin), released the following statement on Saturday morning after the Federal Government shut down:

"Americans should make no mistake; the Democrats in Washington chose to put illegal immigration ahead of the needs of our nation. Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi have shown their true colors, and illustrated no understanding of the real-life implications of their motives. It is not the Minority Leadership that are bearing the fallout of such a reckless decision, but rather everyday Americans. Our servicemen and women fight for our freedom around the globe, only to have the Democrats turn their backs. This liberal outburst is a dereliction of duty, and I urge my colleagues across the aisle to stand up to their ringleaders, and reverse course before they further risk the lives of those who protect and serve our great nation. I pray they quickly rethink their priorities and begin fighting as hard for America as they are for illegal immigration in order to reopen the government."
