Congressman Williams Statement on the Passage of House Vote to Assist Capitol Police
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Roger Williams (R – Austin), who is coach of the Republican Baseball Team and was injured at practice the morning of the shooting in June released the following statement on Wednesday, two days after the House passed a bill that will assist Capitol Police officers injured in baseball shooting:
"I am very pleased that the House was able to work together towards the passage of a bill that will allow donations made to the Capitol Police Memorial Fund to be used for Officers Crystal Griner and David Bailey, who were injured in the shooting that June day. It has been over a month since the tragic shooting at the Republican Congressional Baseball Team practice but I am reminded every day that these two officers are true American heroes and are more than deserving of any help we are able to provide them to make this devastating event a little bit easier. I urge the Senate to vote on this bill immediately so it can reach President Trump's desk as soon as possible to be signed into law."
