Congressman Williams Statement on VA’s Health Modification
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Roger Williams (R – Austin), who represents Fort Hood, one of the largest United States military installations in the world, released the following statement Monday after the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Secretary David Shulkin announced his decision to overhaul the VA electronic medical system to make it compatible with the Department of Defense (DoD).
“For decades, it has been a challenge for the DoD and VA to effectively share health records with our veterans. This overhaul is severely needed and I applaud both President Donald Trump and Secretary Shulkin for taking the necessary steps to improve our system. I believe their decision to implement the next-generation Electronic Health Record (EHR) system for the VA will ensure our veterans receive the care they deserve. This is a positive move forward for our veterans and I am proud to see what we can accomplish as we progress.”
