Congressman Williams to announce Sergeant William R. Moody Post Office Dedication in Burleson
On Monday, August 5th, at 10:00 a.m. at the Burleson Senior Center, U.S. Congressman Roger Williams (TX-25) along with Mayor Ken Shetter and the Burleson City Council, will announce their joint efforts to dedicate the Post Office facility at 232 Southwest Johnson Avenue in Burleson as the "Sergeant William Moody Post Office Building."
"Sgt. Moody is truly a hometown hero," said Williams. "Naming this facility after him is a small measure of our gratitude for his ultimate sacrifice made in defense of our country. He served with honor, integrity and dignity. We must always remember the service and sacrifice of our nation's heroes."
Born and raised in Burleson, Moody joined the U.S. Marines after graduating from Burleson High School in 2002. He served two tours of duty in Iraq. Moody then joined the Army in 2008 and was nearing the end of his second deployment to Afghanistan in June 2013 when he was tragically killed as a result of indirect enemy fire onto his Air Force base in Afghanistan. Throughout his years of service, Moody's commendable service earned him numerous honors and service medals.
On August 5th, the City of Burleson will vote on a resolution allowing legislation authored by Williams to move through the legislative process in Congress – a true collaboration between local and federal government. Upon passage of the resolution, Williams will introduce a bill in September on Capitol Hill to name the building the Sergeant William Moody Post Office Building.
Sgt. Moody's family will be joined by Williams and local officials for the event. Press is invited to attend.
