Rep. Williams and House Republicans Introduce Legislation to Protect Second Amendment

May 17, 2024

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Roger Williams (TX-25) joined Rep. Andrew Clyde and over 86 Republican colleagues in introducing a Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution of disapproval of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ (ATF) final rule redefining what constitutes a firearms dealer.

“Biden and his woke agencies are using every avenue possible to destroy the Second Amendment,” said Congressman Williams.“This is yet another unconstitutional attempt by the Biden Administration to keep firearms out of the hands of law-abiding citizens as criminals like Hunter Biden continue to lie, cheat, and steal to obtain a firearm. I will never stop fighting to ensure our right to bear arms is protected.”

Background:

  • On April 11, 2024, President Biden and the ATF announced the “Engaged in Business” final rule which would redefine who is considered to be in the business of firearms dealing.
