Rep. Williams Announces $6.2 Million Grant for Cleburne Municipal Airport Improvements
CLEBURNE, TX – Congressman Roger Williams (R-TX-25) today announced a $6.2 million grant for Cleburne Municipal Airport from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The funding was approved by the Texas Transportation Commission and is intended to be used for pavement improvements.
“I am proud to announce this $6.2 million grant that will greatly benefit the entire Cleburne community. Ensuring our regional airports have adequate funding to address safety and maintenance repairs is crucial to Texas’ economy, now more than ever,” said Congressman Williams. “While the 25th District has already received much-needed funding for airport improvements, I’m proud to secure greater funding in the CARES Act so that Cleburne Municipal Airport can continue serving our community to the fullest extent possible.”
The funds were made available through the federal Airport Improvement Program (AIP), which provides grants to public agencies for the planning and development of public-use airports. While AIP grants usually require a 10 percent local match, Congress directed through the CARES Act that most FY 2020 grants be awarded at a 100 percent federal share in an effort to alleviate the burden on local governments responding to COVID-19.
Congressman Roger Williams represents the 25th Congressional District of Texas and serves as a member of the House Committee on Financial Services.
