Rep. Williams Announces TX-25’s 2021 Congressional Art Competition Winner

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Roger Williams (TX-25) is honored toannounce Lance Shook, of Lago Vista, TX as the 2021 Congressional Art Competition Winner for TX-25. Every year students from across the country compete in the Congressional Art Competition for an opportunity to display their artwork in the U.S. Capitol for one year. Congressman Williams' selected Lance's artwork titled "Music & Murals", which will be on display this fall.

"It will be an honor to have Lance's artwork represent Texas' 25th District in the U.S. Capitol for all Members of Congress, visitors, and staff to see," said Congressman Williams. "His piece captures the heart of TX-25 and our love for live music and the performing arts. I was impressed with the talent our young artists showed in this year's competition and am confident in the bright and creative futures that our students have ahead."

About Lance Shook:

Lance is a Senior at Lago Vista High School and holds an A+ grade average, ranking in the top 10 students in his class. When he isn't studying, he is involved in the arts and student government, interns for the Mayor of Lago Vista, and serves as a captain and section leader in the school's band. He recently won the University of Texas' Summer Art Challenge, providing him with a full scholarship to attend the Summer Art Intensive at the university. He hopes to continue his passion for the arts as a design and marketing double major with a minor in studio art post-graduation.
