Rep. Williams Calls for Inclusion of Save Our Stages Act in Omnibus Spending Bill
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Roger Williams (R-TX-25) today called for the inclusion of the Save Our Stages Act in the omnibus spending bill.
“Our live music venues who have been hardest hit throughout the pandemic must receive a financial lifeline in any upcoming COVID-19 package. Austin is the live music capital of the world with these venues serving as iconic staples in our communities – and many facing catastrophic closures because of lost revenue. While we’ve been fortunate to buoy some small businesses via the Paycheck Protection Program, many industries will have a much longer recovery path as government mandates continue looming over their future.
“My bipartisan Save Our Stages Act would deliver targeted relief through an independent grant program. Not only does the bill have strong bipartisan support in Congress–and among congressional leadership–it has the backing of world-renowned venue owners and musicians across the nation. We must include it in the omnibus to quickly pass relief for these men and women who are holding onto the hope they will once again be able to reopen their doors. The clock is ticking and the time to act is now.”
