Rep. Williams Calls for Rural Communities to Receive Equal Access to COVID-19 Vaccine

December 3, 2020

WASHINGTON, D.C. Congressman Roger Williams (R-TX-25) today called for rural communities to receive equal access to the COVID-19 vaccine when it becomes available.

"A vaccine to protect Americans from COVID-19 is critical to giving people peace of mind as we reopen our economy and return to our Texan way of life. The Trump administration has made remarkable and unprecedented strides under Operation Warp Speed in the fight against the virus, and it is tantamount that every community has equal access to the vaccine.

"I'm proud that Texas is on the forefront of this new frontier and as the vaccine quickly becomes available in our home state, we must ensure that patients and medical professionals in rural communities receive the same access as that of their urban counterparts. I've spearheaded efforts in Congress to ensure Texas' rural health care facilities receive relief funding and resources throughout the pandemic, and will continue working closely with 25th District health care providers moving into this next phase."

Congressman Roger Williams represents the 25th Congressional District of Texas and serves as a member of the House Committee on Financial Services.
