Rep. Williams Defends Right to Life Through Passage of NDAA Amendment

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Roger Williams (R-TX) issued the following statement after the House passage of Rep. Ronny Jackson’s (R-TX) Amendment No. 5 to the NDAA by a vote of 221-213 prohibiting the Secretary of Defense from paying for or reimbursing expenses relating to abortion services:

“I am unapologetically pro-life and believe that every child is a precious gift from God," said Congressman Williams. "For decades, the Department of Defense has been prohibited from using federal funds for abortions or any related expenses. We must return to this standard. Tonight, House Republicans passed an amendment to the NDAA that I cosponsored repealing abortion-obsessed President Biden’s illegal policy to cover travel expenses for a servicemember to abort their pregnancy. The taxpayers should not be forced to finance an assault on innocent life. I will never waiver in my commitment to protecting our nation's most vulnerable."
