Rep. Williams Demands a Response on Biden Administration’s $450,000 Compensation for Illegals

November 2, 2021

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Roger Williams (TX-25) issued the following statement regarding a letter sent to Secretary Mayorkas, Secretary Garland, and Secretary Becerra about recent reports that the Biden Administration will compensate illegal immigrants up to $450,000:

"President Biden's open-border agenda has gone to new extremes as new reports reveal the Administration's plan to reward illegal behavior with almost half a million dollars" said Congressman Williams. "This is an absurd pro-crime, pro-open border, and radical proposal that will worsen the Biden border crisis by incentivizing more illegal crossings. This proposal will come at a cost of over a billion dollars to American taxpayers which could be better used to address immediate immigration needs like funding our border patrol agents, our immigration courts, and wall construction. As our country reaches a record-breaking 1.7 million illegal crossings, President Biden's open border agenda continues to put our communities at risk and create one of the worst border crises we have seen in generations. I was proud to join my colleagues in demanding answers on this offensive proposal."
