Rep. Williams Statement on Democrats’ Partisan Appropriations Bill

July 24, 2020

WASHINGTON, D.C. Congressman Roger Williams (R-TX-25) today released the following statement after voting against the Democrats' partisan State, Foreign Operations, Rural Development, Interior, Environment, Military Construction, and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Act, 2021 (H.R. 7608):

"Speaker Nancy Pelosi has once again made clear that her primary focus is on advancing the radical ‘Green New Deal' and Democrats' liberal wish list. This week, House Democrats chose partisanship over the wellbeing of the nation by prioritizing taxpayer funded abortions overseas, putting in place harmful regulations that threaten our economy and restore funding for the World health Organization while neglecting COVID-19 resources that Texans need today.

"What's worse is Speaker Pelosi tore up a bipartisan agreement reached over a year ago that would provide for the American people, instead choosing progressive ambitions at the expense of us all. This legislation will never become law and promoting partisan solutions in the middle of a global pandemic is irresponsible and unbecoming of House Democrats. My work continues to responsibly fund the federal government and deliver results for Texans."

Congressman Roger Williams represents the 25th Congressional District of Texas and serves as a member of the House Committee on Financial Services.
