Rep. Williams’ Statement on President Biden’s State of the Union
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Roger Williams (TX-25)issued the following statement following President Biden's State of the Union (SOTU):
"A weary nation looked to the President tonight to offer hope and a course correction after a year of radical, liberal policies that have failed the American people and our allies around the globe. Now more than ever, President Biden needs to put the American people first and understand that America must once again become the beacon of freedom and prosperity around the world.
Unfortunately, President Biden's SOTU address could not have been more tone deaf. The President dismissed the constant pleas from the American people to get inflation under control, secure the border, and defend U.S. interests in every area of influence. The President had the opportunity to address the American people's concerns but instead took to the podium to double down on his failed agenda that has weakened our economy at home and America's standing around the world.
Main Street America is hurting after Democrats bogged down the pandemic recovery with unprecedented spending and endless government mandates. As Americans are facing record breaking prices at the pump and labor shortages caused by months of the government paying workers to stay on the sideline, under this administration the U.S. supply chain and energy resources continue to become more dependent on foreign adversaries.
I will continue to work on behalf of my constituents in TX-25 and preserve the principals and ideals that make America the greatest country on Earth: lower taxes, a secure border, well-funded law enforcement, and energy independence."
