Rep. Williams’ Statement on the Senate Infrastructure Bill

August 11, 2021

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Roger Williams (TX-25) issued the following statementregarding the Senate-passed infrastructure bill:

"Inflation is at its highest point in 13 years and the national debt just eclipsed $28 trillion, but that hasn't deterred Democrats from prioritizing shortsighted spending bills that could total nearly $5 trillion. Speaker Pelosi plans to pair both the bipartisan and reconciliation bills into one package, disposing of the narrative that this process was about working across the aisle. I support fiscally responsible policies to address our most immediate infrastructure needs, like bringing affordable broadband to TX-25 and improving our roads, bridges, and military housing. What I will not support, and what Texans do not want, is a Green New Deal, higher taxes, amnesty for illegals, or sacrificing our energy independence. President Biden, Nancy Pelosi, and Chuck Schumer will stop at nothing to appease their liberal base, forcing American families and small businesses to foot the bill for their big government takeover."– Congressman Roger Williams
