Rep. Williams Urges USDA to Assist Texas Wildfire Recovery

March 23, 2022

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Roger Williams (TX-25)joined a letter to the Secretary of Agriculture Vilsack urging his agency to provide more critical assistance to Texas farmers and ranchers as they endure major wildfires. You can read the full letter by clicking here.

"Texas' 25th District is home to many farms and ranches, many of which are experiencing devastating losses from the wildfires still burning across the state," said Congressman Williams. "While first responders are taking extraordinary action to contain the spread, it is already clear that there will be a significant cost to fully recover. I serve many farmers and ranchers in my district and have heard their pleas for state and federal assistance to cover production loss costs, provide additional resources to replenish the land, and help fund recovery efforts. The state has already taken action with an emergency declaration, but more will be needed from the Federal Government to ensure that food remains on American tables and communities fully recover. I was proud to join my colleagues in requesting help from Secretary Vilsack and the USDA to ensure no Texans are left behind."
