KEENE, TX – Congressman Roger Williams (R-TX-25) today visited Southwestern Adventist University (SWAU) in Keene, TX to meet with university leadership, and local Keene officials and leaders. Invited attendees included President Ken Shaw, Keene Mayor Gary Heinrich, Keene Police Chief Brad Hunt, Keene ISD Superintendent Dr. Ricky Stephens, Principal Buddy Keubler, City Manager Mike Boese, Chamber President Paul Gnadt, Economic Development Director Molly Martin, and SWAU’s Special Assistant to the President Ana Patterson.
“I was grateful for the opportunity to hear from SWAU leadership and our local officials here in Keene about their efforts to keep students healthy as they begin the fall semester,” said Congressman Williams. “Under the CARES Act, I was proud to deliver $801,162 to SWAU to aid students on campus, in addition to over $6.2 million in relief funding for Johnson County as we combat COVID-19 together. This year has brought about unexpected challenges and obstacles, but we need to keep pushing forward with the Texan spirit that has carried us for centuries, and I’m proud to see the city of Keene forge ahead.”
