Retail Industry Names Roger Williams ‘Hero of Main Street’

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Roger Williams (R – Texas) announced today that he has received the National Retail Federation’s 2015 “Hero of Main Street” Award.
The recipients, according to the NRF, are a “bipartisan group of 289 members of Congress (who) support retail industry priorities such as international trade, patent reform, health care, tax reform and workforce policies that work for employees and employers alike.”
Williams is a second generation small business owner and rancher.
“I take pride knowing that I can take the lessons I’ve learned in business and apply them to legislating,” said Williams. “Far too many of our nation’s leaders are career politicians who have no experience in the private sector. It is no surprise then that we see so many antigrowth, job-killing policies and regulations come out of Washington. We need to change that.”
The National Retail Federation is the world’s largest retail trade association. The retail industry supports one in four U.S. jobs, employing around 42 million Americans.
