Roger Williams Named July 4th Burleson Grand Marshal

June 2, 2016

AUSTIN, TEXAS – Congressman Roger Williams (R – Austin), who represents Burleson, Texas in the U.S. Congress, today announced he has been chosen by The Burleson Lions Club to be the Fourth of July Grand Marshall.

“I am honored to take on the role as Grand Marshal this Independence Day,” said Williams. “Burleson is a town close to my heart, and I am looking forward to celebrating our nation’s birthday with my family, friends and fellow patriots.”

The 12th Annual Burleson Lions Club Fourth of July Parade will be held at 9:00 a.m. on July 4. The parade will start behind Kerr Middle School and will proceed down Johnson Street and through the historic Old Town Burleson.

Last Congress, Williams authored legislation renaming a Burleson Post Office after local soldier Sergeant William Moody who was killed in Afghanistan. Williams called Sgt. Moody a “hometown hero who served with honor, integrity and dignity.”
