Roger Williams Opposes Continuing Resolution
“A CR is the equivalent of hanging a ‘we’re open’ sign in a store window without doing any of the financial planning it takes to run a successful business.”
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Roger Williams (R-Texas) this evening voted against a continuing resolution (CR), or temporary spending bill, to fund the federal government into the next fiscal year, beginning on October 1.
"This continuing resolution is simply a continuation of the same wasteful spending patterns of the past," said Williams. "By funding the federal government through CRs, we are yet again busting through previously established budget caps, ignoring necessary spending adjustments and disregarding the appropriations process established by law. A CR is the equivalent of hanging a ‘we're open' sign in a store window without doing any of the financial planning it takes to run a successful business."
The continuing resolution passed the House of Representatives 277-151.
