Roger Williams Reaction to Israel PM Netanyahu’s Address to Congress

March 3, 2015

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Roger Williams (R-Texas) today released the following statement after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke to a joint session of Congress to warn lawmakers of the consequences of a nuclear capable Iran:

"Prime Minister Netanyahu is rightly skeptical of the administration's out of touch, trust above all else, policy with Iran – whose leaders have publicly called for Israel to be wiped off the map," said Williams. "We must remember that it is in America's best interest to continue our strong relationship with Israel, a stable and trustworthy ally in a very volatile and dangerous region of the world. We have a moral and strategic obligation to ensure Israel's peace and prosperity.

"I share the prime minister's caution that we ‘do not have to bet the security of the world that Iran will change for the better.'"

Monday evening, Williams spoke on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives to welcome Netanyahu before his Tuesday morning address.
