Roger Williams: Smart baseball will win this game

June 11, 2015

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Roger Williams (R-Texas), coach of the Republican congressional baseball team, is optimistic about tonight's game against the Democrats.

"Our strategy is to throw strikes and keep the runners off base," said Williams. "I think this is the best team we've had in three years, so I feel pretty good about it."

Yesterday, the team held their final practice in nearby Alexandria, Virginia.

"For the last few months these guys have shown up to practice at 6:30 a.m. and worked tirelessly," said Williams. "It's been an honor to be their coach, and I know that as long as we stick to the fundamentals and play smart baseball we'll win this game. On to victory."

The annual Congressional Baseball Game for Charity will be held tonight at 7:05pm ET/ 6:05pm CT at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C.
