Roger Williams Statement on U.S. Jobs Report
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Roger Williams (R-Texas), a small business owner and member of the House Financial Services Committee, this morning released the following statement after the U.S. Department of Labor released its monthly jobs report which fell below expectations.
"Despite the president's unfounded optimism on the economy, the labor participation rate has fallen to its lowest level since 1977. With nearly 95 million Americans out of the workforce, it is irresponsible for the Obama Administration to cite loose unemployment numbers that paint a prettier picture than reality. The hardworking middle class is struggling, with no thanks to the expansion of government under President Obama. It's time for Congress to step up where this administration has fallen short, so I am calling on Congress to take up my legislation that will empower our country's greatest asset – American workers."
This summer, Williams introduced his seven bill tax reform plan, Jumpstart America.
